Towne Mazda Discusses Future Changes to Lineup on the Horizon

Our fellow Mazda enthusiasts know that our favorite automaker likes to stay fresh with new model offerings and innovative technology, and it comes as little surprise that they would continue to do so. Recently, the Japanese brand has scheduled a fairly extensive overhaul for the majority of models in the new Mazda lineup, and Towne Mazda has all the details to share with drivers in the San Francisco, CA area.

We've already talked extensively about the 2014 Mazda3 sedan, which will shortly be arriving in our Redwood City, CA showroom for its third-generation with a full lineup of the brand's SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGIES. There is also a possibility for a diesel engine in the model after the brand sees how U.S. drivers react to a diesel-equipped Mazda6.

Speaking of the Mazda6, the sedan only just underwent a redesign for its 2014 model year, but will be part of a mid-cycle refresh sometime in late 2014 or early 201. This update will feature a fresh interior and modified front fascia and will also apply to the Mazda CX-5 crossover.

The automaker's iconic MX-5 Miata will undergo a massive overhaul for the 2016 model year with productions scheduled for the first months of 2015. The fifth-generation of the roadster will feature a brand-new rear-wheel drive platform with a wider track and longer wheelbase. It is likely that the new MX-5 Miata will feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Mazda SKYACTIV® engine and a new coupe-like roofline.
