Mazda Shows Off Two New Concepts in Tokyo

The decision to purchase a new Mazda vehicle might possibly be the best decision you ever make when it comes to improving your daily drives to and from your destinations, near and far. Gorgeous styling, supreme comfort, modern technology, efficient and powerful engines, and affordable prices: Mazda had it all. But it's about to get even better if two concept vehicles we saw at the Tokyo Motor Show are any indication.

Spoiler: they are.

Of all the advances that the automaker has made in the past few years, the one that's received the most praise is most likely their SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, in terms of powertrain and otherwise. So when we caught wind of two vehicles on display, the Mazda3 SKYACTIV®-Hybrid and SKYACTIV®-CNG, we knew something great was in the making that we had to find out more about.

First, the CNG-powered model is one that is dual-fueled; natural gas and gasoline both work when poured into the tank, for an all-new kind of convenience. Second, and even cooler, is the first hybrid engine from Mazda, the SKYACTIV®-Hybrid. Though it's currently only planned to make an appearance in the Japanese market at this point, the concept is incredible.

An electric motor connects to a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and assists at low speed and low-load conditions; this results in a Mazda3 that can achieve something close to 74 miles per gallon - on the Japanese cycle, of course - and hit 134 horsepower. That's efficiency we'd love to have in our cars!

So keep an eye on the blog for more information in the future. Until then, why not come visit Towne Mazda in Redwood City, CA today and find something to fall in love with in the current lineup? Our knowledgeable staff will help you get behind the wheel of anything that catches your attention and take it out for a test drive sure to convince you: there's nothing like a Mazda!
